The Value of the Water Released by the SJRA

 

Spring release – 49,069 acre feet

Fall release – 17,098 acre feet

The total amount released during 2019 was 66,167 acre feet.

There are 325850 gallons per acre foot (66167(volumes provided above) X 325850/1000) = 21,561,000

units of 1000 gal X.72 = 15,523,000 dollars in value at $.72/1000 gal 

(price of Houston water provided by SJRA)

The SJRA raw water rate is $.49/1000 gallon

this loss = 10,564,890 dollars

 

This is  the amount SJRA  thru down the drain.

The amount of water revenue lost 

is between 10.5  million and 15.5 million depending on the water cost used.
